September 2023. Brigg.
Homeward bound, like Simon & Garfunkel in Widnes.

12:30pm. Our Gang of Four Parliamentary trainsfolk had done the four cask entries on What Pub for Brigg,

but regular reader Axholme Rob had alerted us to a genuine, recently opened craft bar, and given CAMRA’s new love for keg this had to be pre-emptively ticked. We could have sat outside in the sun like normal people, but of course that’s considered a “debatable tick” after the 1st tickers AGM. You MUST drink inside.

The exotically named Hop Inn had Cloudwater and Pauaner on tap,

the latter from their Octoberfest.

We’d just missed it but Will had brought his own hat.

As you’ll know, scoring keg beers on What Pub brings instant expulsion from CAMRA; it’s a crime up there with being a life member (“leech”), but Mrs RM was heard to say “Mmm” so that’s a 4.
Canned craft from Grimsby; how much more exotic can you get ?

As is traditional, this is the point in the proceedings where I take a photo of another Pub Mans’s notes. What gorgeous handwriting.

One more to come…
“Paul an’ ‘er” – that’s me and Mrs Mudge !

I look like my grandfather in that hat.
Perhaps I do without it, too….
