MARSKE UNMASKED

August 2023. Marske-by-the-Sea.

We had an hour till our micro opened at 4. Why do ALL pubs open at 4 these days ? Is it something to do with the end of the school day.

The volunteers at Winkies Castle recommended seeing the remains of St Germain’s churchyard, and it had a certain magic about it, reminiscent of Whitby round the coast.

But it was the near deserted beach that really impressed.

OK, I’d never actually take my Bass in the Star T-shirt off and go for a dip in the North Sea, but that beach looked the business and some young (under 59) folk were doing “fully dressed sunbathing”.

I’m not sure whether the dredger adds or subtracts confidence about the cleanliness of the water,

but a lot of mums and dads were taking advantage of the free buckets and spades,

and staring out to the rather beautiful wind turbines.

Inland from the dunes, Marske has some pretty valley gardens, well-maintained houses,

and a stately looking care home.

On the High Street, the Ship seemed the largest and most interesting pub,

but a ticker can NEVER go in the most interesting looking pub, can they ?

  1. Always thought Marske was in Norfolk for some reason. How wrong can you be? (just created new WordPress account so I can like/comment. Wonder if it’s going to work )

If all else fails, stand on the highest hill in Tonbridge and shout your comment !

  2. “Borrow Play Return” restores some faith in human nature, doesn’t it?

And I guess as I have no account to log in to I’ll be anonymous … let’s see.

      1. I understand what maybe happened, Miker.

I think that Martin has been editing names on guesswork perhaps?
