Peregrine Falcons at Worcester Cathedral (NCSS 4.5)

Only one way to start this morning.

Yes, in Soccer/Sportswashing news, I can now stop worrying about City for a couple of months until the Charity Shield becomes the most important trophy.

As promised, I didn’t watch/listen/follow the match last night, despite Mrs RM shouting Don’t you want to know the score ?“. I looked at the score on BBC Sport when I thought it had finished and was horrified to endure five (5) minutes of goalmouth frenzy.

It seems silent prayers in three (3) trips to cathedrals in a week (Sheffield and Rochester coming up) have paid off, so I’m implementing a National Church Scoring System.

Of course, Worcester is more than its cathedral. There’s this statue of King Leofric who could actually hold the whole building in his left hand,

and this more modern church dedicated to Banks’s of Wolverhampton.

Last time here I’d walked to the top of the tower to get a sweeping view of the county’s Wetherspoons,

but sadly that pleasure was denied to me this time because of Peregrine Falcons, which sounds like a football team where Messi will end his career.

Press play below,

and you can hear the organist in the background, playing a collection of Coldplay classics to encourage the little fellas to go and do whatever they do in the roof of a micropub or something.

In my mind I’d have had Worcester in the 2nd Division of cathedrals, behind Peterborough and Blackburn but above the over-fussy York, but is really is gorgeous,

with a great collection of art from local schools and this actual dinosaur found in the pear fields of Kempsey.

I left uplifted, ready to start a cathedral spreadsheet and contemplating what colour marker to use, and then immediately re-entered the hubabub of Worcester High Street and forgot, till now.

And remember, folks…

Hey, isn’t 0161 the code for Manchester ?
