May 2023.
Even Duncan, who’s been known to squeeze reports from 3 continents and 33 non-league brewery taps into a single post, took his time in Tallinn. Have a look at his lovely post on Pohjala, where he visits the former Padarei Prison, the only building in the Estonian capital NOT a craft beer bar.

It’s an interesting walk out along the coast, a combination of ruins and revitalisation,

with some distinctly un-Soviet designs.

Weird art at every turn. I think Labi Daga is the local equivalent of Stefani Germanotta.

The route to the Pohjala Tap takes you through a Soviet cemetery and plonks you in front of two delivery robots (top). We’ve been hearing how AI will make us all redundant;

these things will bring Simon his beer from his remaining 2,000 pubs so he can sit in York eating Wotsits rather than actually travelling to Kent gastropubs.
Pohjala seem to be the Cloudwater of Estonia, though their tap is if anything more upmarket, packed with private parties on Tuesday night.

About a fiver for your 0,4 litre, so neither a bargain or outrageous,

and high quality. Unless you hate sours. The Estonians seem to love sours and saisons.

The one on the right is called “Our Famous Porter”. By law, I have to order anything with the word “famous” in it.
This is their posh snack selection. Please don’t ask what in that pot.

I kept looking at Duncan’s tick list, forlornly realising I would get little further down the list, and there appeared to be several additions since 2020.

Perhaps one more, Mrs RM agreed, as we headed to the railway arches, via the middle finger.

and the nudist winery.

“Take it easy !” read the sign. That’s advice I urge you to avoid at all costs.
