A third raid on the Fiddler’s Dram classic, the second single I ever bought.
Can you guess my first ?
And a third trip to Bangor in three years; is it the Newport (Gwent, obvs) of the north ?

It’s not even as if the Uni accommodation is that cheap, though it was superb.

But Pubmeister was staying there, and I was keen to persuade him of the merits of Bass, especially since Patrick of Patrick’s fame had just put a new barrel on.
So after a stroll down by the pier, I let Patrick know we were coming for him (not in a Big Brother way).

Duncan bumped into me on the corner of the street, and at 22.34 on a Sunday we were drinking Bass.

And some local beer. Duncan is so non-compliant.
Patrick (for it is he) seemed oddly pleased to see us given we’d tipped up past the time that 99% of pubs would be closed.

We chatted local football, studentz and Bass, which is about 95.7% of life.
After two pints, at 23:12 I suggested we try the local artisan gin. Why do we do this ?

Mine had bits of chilli in it. Good job Mrs RM wasn’t there, to be honest.

At 23:39, we were the last customers left, had confirmed the schedule of pre-season fixtures for Bangor 1876, and were ready for an early late night.
But first,

“And a third trip to Bangor in three years”
That explains the Patrick’s Bar quip in the previous post.
“Looks like a venue for a murder mystery weekend, doesn’t it ?”
Or a future micro? 😉
“Could be a smaller bar than that pub in Southport”
Looks more like one of those weird ‘tell your fortune’ thingies at amusement parks.
“Crowdfunding to make it reach to Ireland continues”
Shouldn’t they have started at Holyhead then?
“I suggested we try the local artisan gin”
I remember asking if it was gin or gin infused beer on Duncan’t blog.
“But first,”
Duncan used his famous ticking hand didn’t he?*
*- by highlighting it in green of course!
Cheers

Have you ever SEEN Holyhead?
The route from Bangor is long overdue.

It was a fine night and Patrick was a perfect host. Really not sure how we got onto the gin but recall we commended it heartily.

“It’s not even as if the Uni accommodation is that cheap” as I know from Miss TSM having had three years there, but she’s got me to several Bangor pubs I wouldn’t otherwise have known.
“Patrick was a perfect host” except in 2015 on the one day a week he opens an hour late for doing the cleaning and he wouldn’t sell me a pint to drink out of the way while he was mopping the main floor, but I have been there since – but not as often as the Tap and Spile for the Bass, which wasn’t on last time.
