Short read special day.
One more new tick from the Solway coast, and another surprisingly traditional one.
Nice bit of north Gower-like coastline, seemingly the playground of all of Carlisle’s retirees.

We all like a good mud flat, don’t we ?

And most folk like a traditional looking wet-led boozer in the middle of nowhere, don’t they ?

Perhaps they don’t these days. Just a couple of Professionals at the bar and the single old lady (a pub feature rarer than normality in Oldham) drinking soup.

Your cutting-edge beer choice; Speckled Hen or Belhaven (NBSS 3). Solway CAMRA, you spoil me.
“There ya go darlin‘”

I’ll let them off the “Livin on a prayer” soundtrack.
And in a world of pomegranate and fig beard wash, what a joy to get retro toiletries.

Was the soup imported from Bermondsey?

I hope that’s not a sly dig at London murky, our Wes.

Whatever it is they certainly don’t stint on the bread.
I’m obsessed with bread at the moment – not a single carb has passed my lips in three weeks and I’m waking up in the middle of the night thinking of a large thick slice of toasted bread moaning under the weight of real butter and Vegemite.

Fit as a fiddle but was 20lbs overweight so getting in training for watching the World Cup by the Spanish villa pool.
A stone gone and another half to go.
No carbs before Marbs.

My wife’s the same way. Trying to lose about a stone I guess (15lbs). I’m going to bed dressed as a meat butty but no luck so far. 😉

“north Gower-like coastline”
I used to do story time for the little kiddies at the North Gower library. 🙂
“We all like a good mud flat, don’t we ?”
Agreed.
Oh, wait… sorry; thought you meant good mud “flap”, for vehicles. 🙂
BTW – that map is too bloody hard to read (to make fun of that is). 😉
“and the single old lady (a pub feature rarer than normality in Oldham) drinking soup.”
With a Greene King IPA chaser from the looks of it (judging by the labeling on the glass).
“what a joy to get retro toiletries.”
Imperial Leather? Did that used to hold shoe polish?
Cheers

The soup lady didn’t want to leave her dog on the floor and it wasn’t allowed on the seat so it’s sat patiently just behind her.
And doesn’t her Greene King IPA look suspiciously pale ?
