Our 3 day world tour continued from Kent with a stop in Waterbeach (no Chung Hwa) and a night by the river in the Vale of Belvoir. Or Beaver to you and me.
The posh bit of Leics-cum-Lincs betwixt Grantham, Melton and Nottingham has some good pubs, but rarely new ones, and the tick in Redmile was a first in a decade.
Hardly a soul on the road:as we know folk who most celebrate St George’s Day can’t wait to escape this beautiful country for Spain.
Redmile has some tranquil riverside walks and a typical village all-rounder in the Windmill, notable only for the Double Diamond ceramics.
Twenty in the beer garden, decent trade post-Sunday lunch.
Shirt sleeves and shorts all round. Take that Benidorm.
Three overheard lines will tell you the average earnings in Redmile (£34,775).

Mrs RM was transfixed, and stayed for a second mini bottle of Prosecco I said I didn’t begrudge her but clearly did when the bill for £20 turned up. But she’s worth it.
The Dancing Duck was cool and tasty, too, as you can guess from the lacings.
Our home for the night was spectacular value.

Is that The Windmill? If so, on my to do list as the Auf Wiedershen Pet pub!!! Great first picture by the way…Is it safe to say that you might well be the new Alan Winfield as he was usually with Mrs W in tow and Mrs RM is a welcome addition to this blog!

Looks like the weather was good for pub garden drinking at least. I felt bad when that first day reopening had some devoted pub fans shivering in the snow– but determined not to give up on having a pint of cask on the first day!
I wonder when prosecco became a popular thing over there? I feel like I didn’t hear people talking about it over here until 5 or 10 years ago. But maybe I just wasn’t paying attention…

I had a mini bottle in a Wetherspoons in Portsmouth at the end of a pub crawl (bad idea) and got some looks!
April 12th really wasn’t that bad weather wise. Kent folk really do moan about a bit of snow 😉
